Our Story: How Parker Tree Service Began

A common question I get is, "How did you end up doing tree work?" Well, I have a unique story as to how I ended up in the tree business.

I went to Bible college with the intention of being a full-time youth pastor when I was finished. Well, as I was applying for seminary for my master's I was forced to be honest with myself when I was filling out the application. What got me to really think was a line which read, "Explain how you were called to full-time ministry."

Frankly, I had to examine if I was "called" or not. I concluded I had a desire to work with youth, but full-time was not for me. In hind sight, I think I was peer pressured to go for youth ministry. So, I began praying for God to lead me to what He wanted me to do.

About 4 months later I could not get the idea of a tree business out of my head. I researched tree services online for hours. I thought, "I think I could get into this." Well, not long after that I saw an ad in the paper reading, "Tree Trimmers Wanted." I followed up with the ad and got the job. Within a couple of days, I knew this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. This story maybe kind of silly, but I tell you the truth. God answered my prayer.
